Germany’s EMFIS news provider said last week that foreign investors will keep pouring billions of dollar into Vietnam as the country remains an attractive investment destination in the world. Vietnam will continue receiving great interest of foreign investors in the mid-term as share sale process is being accelerated, modernization and urbanization is increased, which has helped improve people’s living condition, EMFIS said.

The VN-Index, the country’s key stock benchmark, rose 8%, the highest in Asia since the beginning of the year, on January 14.

The recovery of the stock market was attributed to the government’s decision on suspending operation of gold exchanges by end-March, 2010 while macro-economic indices were impressive.

The country gained 5.32% GDP growth rate in 2009 despite the financial crisis, compared to 6.18%. The growth in the fourth quarter hit 6.9% in the fourth quarter.

The banking system reported a credit growth of 38% compared to 2008, meaning a great supply of money to the economy, especially in construction sector, the newspaper wrote.

Vietnam, China and India were among few countries which quickly overcame the global crisis.
