Foreign investment situation in the first 11 months of 2018
According to report of the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) - Ministry of Planning and Investment, foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first 11 months of 2018, there were2,714newly-registered projects with capital reached US$ 15.78 billion, equal to 79.7% with the same period of last year, the additional registered capital reached US$ 7.4 billion, equal to 92.6% with the same period of last year.
By sectors: The processing, manufacturing sector continues to rank 1stwith the total registered investment capital of US$ 14.2 billion, accounting for 46.2% of the registered capital, The real estate sector ranked 2nd with US$ 6.5 billion, accounting for 21.3% of the registered capital, andThe Wholesale, retail, repair sectorranked 3rdwith US$ 3.1 billion, accounting for 10% of the registered capital.
By partners: There were108 countries and territories investing in the first 11 months of 2018, Japan retained its position as Viet Nam’s leading source of FDI withUS$ 8 billion, accounting for 25.9%; followed by the Republic of Korea with aboutUS$ 6.8 billion, accounting for 22.3%; and Singapore with US$ 4.1billion, accounting for 13.4%.
By areas:Among 59 localities, the capital city Ha Noi lured the largest FDI in the 9 month period, with $ 6.3 billion, accounting for 20.4% of the total FDI registered in the country. HO Chi Minh city and Hai Phong were the runners-up with $5.6 billion or 18.1% and $ 2.49 billion or 8%, respectively.

In the first 11 months of 2018, The processing and manufacturingsector retained its position as Central region’s leading source of FDI with 47 new projects and registered investment capital of US$ 529.86 million, accounting for 64.94% of total registered capital, the production and distribution of electric, gas, waterranked 2nd with 2 new projects and registered investment capital of US$ 123.75 million, accounting for 15.17% of total registered capital and the warehouse transportation sectorstood at the third.

Among them, Central Key Economic Zone has attracted 1057 projects with total registered capital of over US$ 16.89 billion (70.79% of the whole region).
