Morning of 01/4/2014, Danang Hi-Tech Park (DHTP) Management Board worked with the Delegation of The Seoul Institute (SI) - South Korea on the occasion of the Delegation to Danang city to kick off collaborative project "Building Urban Development Strategy for Danang Hi-Tech Park”. Representatives of Seoul government, Danang Institute of Society - Economic Development (DISED) and professors of Sungkyunkwan University (South Korea) also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, two parties discussed current status of planning, construction and investment promotion in DHTP. Besides that, SI promised to give supports and assistances to DHTP in developing strategies. SI acts as consultants to Seoul city government, in charge of research activities and adjust serious problems and implement the research into the development city of Seoul.

Mr. Pham Truong Son - Deputy Director General of the DHTP Management Board expressed expectation to be supported from SI in developing DHTP towards an Eco-technology Park. After hearing DHTP Management Board’s advantages, disadvantages, SI shared its experience and lessons in developing hi-tech parks in South Korea as well as the popular development trends of other Asian hi-tech parks in the recent years. The lessons are really useful in the process of building DHTP become an attractive place for investors and a sustainable development model which closely links with the eco-social of the city and the Central Region and Western Highlands of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, the meeting was continued at the headquarter of DISED aiming to implement the project among the parties. There were representatives of DHTP Management Board, DISED, SI, Sungkyunkwan University and ones of United Nations Human Settlements Program United Nations (UN - HABITAT) in the meeting. SI and Sungkyunkwan University shared their experience in building and developing the city of Seoul and a few hi-tech parks in Seoul. Basing on similarities between Danang and Seoul city, SI and Sungkyunkwan University outlined a sustainable plan for Danang. The parties discussed and contributed actively to try to find the best strategy for DHTP.

The visit of the SI and Sungkyunkwan University is the first step in the cooperation program between SI and DISED under the financial support of UN-HABITAT to build a sustainable development plan in Danang, especially in DHTP.
