In two days of the conference, there was many official activities taking place, including: Exhibition on “socio-economic development achievements and investment projects in the central coastal region”; 01 seminar on “Investment Promotion in the central coastal region”; 06 thematic seminars: “Tourism development in the central coastal region”, “Industrial development in central coastal region”, “Investment in Da nang hi-tech and information technology park”, “Quang ngai – new opportunities for industrial development”...and 01 dialogue between leaders of provinces/cities in the region and investors. Especially, the Organization Board of the Conference prepared and organized for international delegations to contact and exchange with local authorities in the region.
In speech of conference opening, Mr.Nguyen Ba Thanh, member of Party Central Committee, Head of central internal affair commission, Head of Da Nang City Assembly Delegation, Head of Regional Coordination Board expressed: “With the purpose of advertising potentials and investment opportunities in the region, providing convenient conditions for investment activities, introducing preferential mechanisms, policies and list of projects calling for investment to international and domestic investors, the conference is a chance for localities in the region to introduce themselves as attractive destinations to investors. The conference is also an occasion for management, investors, international organizations, researchers to exchange and share with each other about issues of socio-economic development and regional connection.

Mr. Van Huu Chien, Chairman of Da Nang city people’s committee affirmed: “Conference on Investment promotion for the Central coastal region is a valuable opportunity for domestic and international enterprises, investors as well as organizations to contact and have a direct dialogue with leaders of the Central government, ministries, departments, agencies and local authorities aiming at clearing difficulties and barriers in investment process and studying specific investment projects in the Central Coastal Region”.
At the conference, addressing issue on coordination for industrial development in the central region, most participants believed that the central 9 provinces/cities region is trading gateway of Vietnam with countries in Asia area, owning much of advantages for socio-economic growth. However, in order to turn those potentials into competitive economic advantages within area and over the world, the region needs to rationally approach centralized investment process integrating with regional connection and gradually generate production clusters; Simultaneously, the region also needs to have innovation of institution (policies and public administrative services) and infrastructure development with the purpose of becoming a national brimful potentials investment destination.
Facing to current low rate of skillful tourism labors, Associate Professor – Ph.d Tran Dinh Thien, Director of Vietnam Economic Institution proposed: “Based on forecast of labor demand and supply, it is necessary for the central region to appropriately implement connecting activities between educational institutes and vocational training centers in order to correspond with human resources need. Localities in the region need to encourage cooperation forms between tourism training centers and tourism business organizations to improve training quality; to support and enhance foreign language skill (English, Japanese, Russia and Chinese…) for tourism labors.
To attract investors, 27 projects calling for investment were introduced at the conference. Of which, 2 projects on educational sector: Building international standard university with modern scale – in Phan Rang- Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan province (consisting of multi disciplines and being high-quality human resources training center for Central southern provinces and Western highland area); Building international university in Da Nang university square (training 2-years and 4-years degree with disciplines: tourism-hotel management, business management, trade, marketing, foreign language); 9 projects on industrial sector, 8 projects on services-tourism-real estate, 2 projects on agricultural sector, 4 projects on infrastructure and 2 projects on health care sector.
At the conference, key leaders of 9 provinces/cities in the region agreed and graced ceremony of awarding investment licenses for 09 projects of localities with total investment value of 3.504 billion dong and 30 million USD; ceremony of MOU between the region and localities in the region with investors with total value up to 30.822 billion UDS; ceremony of credit supply between BIDV and other enterprises with total value of 3.922 billion dong and 34 million USD.

Continuously mobilizing achievements in regional coordination and investment environment improvement in the central coastal region, the conference agreed to execute key tasks in near future as follows: early collecting investor’s opinions at the conference and transferring to local governments in order to having solutions on obstacle clearance for investors and enterprises; consultative group combined with BIDV to implement preparing activities for Seminar: “Developing typical tourism products in the Central Coastal Region” (will be held in Nha Trang city – Khanh Hoa province in June, 2013); Completing regional database system, regional web portal in order to broadly promote regional socio-economic information, to provide favorable environment for investors, scientists, experts to exchange and share information related to the region growth as well as to execute plans, programs, researches ordered by localities;
In conference closing speech, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh - member of Party Central Committee, Head of central internal affair commission, President of Da nang people’s council, Head of Regional Coordination Board asserted: “The conference was successful and achieved its purpose. Through this conference, localities in the region sent their message to investors. Management, international organizations, scientists and investors had a good opportunity to present a straight dialogue with each other about issues on socio-economic development, investment attraction and especially how to effectively connect localities in the region aiming at harmoniously and comprehensively developing.
On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh also affirmed the commitment of leaders of 09 provinces/cities in the region: “We have not only called investment but also accompanied and pledged to create the most favorable conditions for investors on the basis of friendship, co-operation and equality”
