On 4/6/2013, Investment Promotion Ceter for Central Vietnam (IPCC) have received letter from Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, Co., Ltd. (MUMSS), a leading carbon consultancy of Japan. MUMSS succeeded in winning funding from the Japanese Ministry of Environment to conduct a feasibility study in Danang to promote the eco-city development project involving electronic motor cycles manufactured in Vietnam with advanced Japanese technology as part of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), a joint scheme for green-house gas reduction between the governments of Vietnam and Japan. The project is expected to contribute to the improvement of environment and mitigation of climate change by replacing gasoline driven motorcycles.
The feasibility study is to be conducted between June 2013 and February 2014 and activities include surveying current use of motorcycles in Danang, discussion with key local organizations on the possibility of developing a full-scale project in subsequent years as well as hosting a workshop to promote the electric motorcycle technology and widely introduce the concept of the eco-city project.
On 17th June, IPCC and MUMSS met with leaders of Danang People’s Committee, Mr. Phung Tan Viet, Vice-Chairman of Danang People’s Committee said that Danang welcome MUMSS in making the right choice to carry out feasibility study on low carbon community development project by promoting electric motorbikes in Vietnam. This project is suitable with the city’s developmet orientation in the future and Danang People’s Committee will creat advantage conditions for MUMSS to carry out feasibility study in Danang city.
On 18th June, IPCC and MUMSS have contacted Sun Group and taked the field work on electric motor in InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. General Director of Sun Group, Mr. Dang Minh Truong said that MUMSS received great critical acclaim if they deploy the project in Danang and he promised that he will also creat advantage conditions for MUMSS to carry out feasibility study here.
