New Ba Na cable car gains 4 Guinness World Records

The 3rd cable car system at Da Nang’s Ba Na Hills Resort has won four Guinness World Records, the Ba Na Cable Car Service Joint Stock Company has recently announced.

The four world records are: the longest single-wire cable car system (5,771.61 m), the highest difference between the departure and arrival terminals (1,368.93 m), the longest non-stop cable (11,587 m), and the heaviest cable roll (141.24 tonnes).

This cable car route, which meets the standards of the World Association of Cable Cars, has been built by the world-renowned Austrian company Doppelmayr Cable Car and the Swiss CWA Constructions at a total cost of 30 million Euro.

The route will be officially operational on 29 March to mark the 38th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang.

The cable car has a total of 86 cabins which can each accommodate 10 persons.  It will be able to carry 1,500 visitors per hour at a speed of 6 metres per second.

When put into operation, the 3rd system will help to reduce the overload on the existing 1stand 2nd systems, as well as shorten the travel time from the foot of the mountain to the top, without going through the transfer station at Vong Nguyet Hill.

In 2012, the Ba Na Hills Resort welcomed 761,154 guests, a 120% year-on-year increase.  It expects to receive about 1 million visitors this year.
